But here's where it gets controversial... Despite the setback, the studio's spirit and determination remained intact. Rich Vogel, the studio head and co-founder, announced that the partnership with NetEase had come to an end, but he and his team were not ready to give up.
Now, the team has officially returned, reimagined and refocused, with a clear goal: to build the next great player-driven game. They've acquired the T-Minus Zero Entertainment name and are relaunching as an independent production company, adopting a refined development model inspired by the independent film industry.
In their own words: "Earlier this year, our journey with NetEase Games concluded. We achieved something extraordinary: a world-class team, a bold new IP, and a playable prototype that showcased our creative prowess. The positive response from players, partners, and peers confirmed our belief in the market potential of our vision. While changing market dynamics altered our trajectory, they also clarified our path forward."
The studio is now led by Zachary Beaudoin as CEO, with Mark Tucker as CCO, Scott Stevens as CTO, and Jef Dobson as Chief Art Officer. They're seeking co-financing partners to bring their concept to full production, aiming to collaborate with "strategic allies who value quality gameplay, exceptional execution, and a sustainable business model."
